Whitehead Solitaire

Whitehead Solitaire is a refreshing take on the classic Klondike formula. By dealing all tableau cards face-up and changing the building rule from alternating colors to same-color sequences, Whitehead transforms the game into a pure logical puzzle. If you enjoy games like FreeCell but love the Klondike layout, Whitehead is the perfect middle ground.

How to Play

1

Face-Up Tableau

Like Klondike, there are 7 columns. However, all cards are dealt face-up. You can see every card in the tableau from the very first move.

2

Build by Color

Cards are built down in descending order using the same color (Red on Red, Black on Black). For example, a Heart 8 can be placed on a Diamond 9.

3

Sequence Movement

You can move groups of cards only if they are of the same suit and in the correct descending order. This adds a layer of suit-management to the color-based building.

4

Foundations & Stock

Build the four foundations up by suit from Ace to King. Deal cards from the stock one at a time to find the builders you need to complete the set.

How does it differ from Klondike?
The two biggest differences are that all cards are face-up, and you build down in the same color (Red on Red) instead of alternating colors (Red on Black).

Is it easier than Klondike?
Because you can see all cards and any card can fill an empty slot, it often feels more strategic and less dependent on the "luck of the flip" than standard Klondike.
