How to Play

1

The Layout

One deck (52 cards) is used. Six tableau columns are dealt with 6 cards each. Within each column, some cards are face-down (the "wall"), while the others are face-up and ready for action.

2

Foundation Targets

Build the four foundation piles up by suit, starting from Ace and ending with King. Clearing all 52 cards into these piles is the only way to win.

3

Tableau Maneuvers

Build tableau columns down in alternating colors (e.g., a Red 9 on a Black 10). You can move any face-up card or a fully organized sequence between columns.

4

Stock & Empty Spaces

Deal the remaining 16 cards from the stock one at a time. Empty tableau spaces are highly valuable—you can fill them with any available card or sequence to reveal hidden "wall" cards.

Rules Insight

How difficult is Stonewall?
It is considered a medium-to-hard difficulty game. Success depends largely on how quickly you can turn over the hidden cards and manage your limited stock pile.

Top Tip:
Don't rush to use the stock. Exhaust all possible moves in the tableau first. Every card you deal from the stock is one less empty space or maneuver you can make later.
