How to Play

1

The Twelve-Column Deal

Using two 52-card decks (104 total), 36 cards are dealt face-up into twelve tableau columns of three cards each. All cards are visible from the start.

2

Build by Suit

In the tableau, you build sequences downward by the SAME suit (e.g., place a Jack of Spades on a Queen of Spades). Only the top card of a column is playable.

3

Eight Foundation Piles

The goal is to build up eight foundation piles from Ace to King by suit. Moving cards to foundations is essential to clear space in the tableau.

4

The Stock & Waste

Draw cards one by one from the stock to the waste. You have one pass through the deck, so every draw must be utilized strategically.

Common Questions

How is Limited different from Forty Thieves?
Limited uses twelve columns of three cards each (36 cards), whereas Forty Thieves uses ten columns of four cards (40 cards). The wider layout in Limited offers more initial legal moves.

Can I move multiple cards at once?
No. In Limited Solitaire, you can only move one card at a time. To move a sequence, you must use empty tableau columns as temporary storage.
