How to Play

1

The Eight-Column Forest

Using 104 cards (two decks), 40 cards are dealt into eight tableau columns of five cards each. Every card in the tableau is face-up and ready for action.

2

Same-Suit Sequencing

Build your columns downward in the SAME suit. For example, the 4 of Diamonds can only be placed on the 5 of Diamonds. Only the top card of any column can be moved.

3

The Wrap-Around Rule

Unique to this game: the building is circular. You can place a King on an Ace or an Ace on a King in the tableau, allowing you to bypass typical "dead ends."

4

Foundations & Stock

Build eight foundations up from Ace to King by suit. Draw cards from the stock to the waste pile to find the missing pieces of your puzzle.

Common Questions

How is this different from Forty Thieves?
While the layout is similar, House in the Wood features 8 columns instead of 10, and most importantly, it allows "circular" building (King on Ace) which is forbidden in standard Forty Thieves.

Can I move full sequences?
No. This is a "strict" solitaire where only one card can be moved at a time. This makes every empty column incredibly valuable for shifting sequences around card by card.
