How to Play

1

The Double Setup

Diplomat uses two full decks (104 cards). 32 cards are dealt face-up into 8 columns (4 cards each) to form the Tableau.

2

Non-Suit Building

In the columns, you can build down regardless of suit or color (e.g., any 7 can be placed on any 8). This offers incredible flexibility!

3

Move Individual Cards

Only the top card of each column is available for play. You cannot move sequences; every card must be relocated one by one.

4

Eight Foundations

Move all cards to the 8 foundation piles, building up from Ace to King by suit. Use the stock pile when you run out of moves.

Common Questions

How many redeals are allowed?
None. Diplomat is traditionally played with a single pass of the stock, but its generous building rules make it much more winnable than other double-deck games.

Can I move a group of cards?
No. Unlike Klondike or Spider, you can only move the single exposed card from the top of a pile. Planning each step is key!
