Blockade Solitaire

Twelve Columns • 104 Cards • Simple Yet Systematic
Blockade Solitaire Game

Blockade is a fascinating double-deck solitaire game that stands out for its unique dealing method. Unlike other games where the stock is hidden, Blockade reveals a new row of cards across all 12 columns, creating a "blockade" that requires careful management to dismantle.

How to Play

1

Twelve Starting Cards

Using two decks (104 cards), deal one card face-up into each of the 12 tableau columns. These form the start of your workspace.

2

Build by Suit Downward

Cards in the tableau are built down in the SAME suit (e.g., only a 5 of Diamonds can go on a 6 of Diamonds). Only the top card of a column can be moved.

3

Foundation Sorting

Aces are moved to the 8 foundation spots as they appear. Build these foundations UP by suit from Ace through to King.

4

The "Blockade" Deal

When you run out of moves, deal a new card to EACH of the 12 columns from the stock. This new row blocks the cards below, requiring you to clear the top layer to reach the bottom.

Common Questions

How is this different from Forty Thieves?
While both use two decks, Blockade deals a full row of 12 cards at once, whereas Forty Thieves uses a waste pile. This makes the "layered" nature of Blockade much more pronounced.

What happens if the stock runs out?
Once the stock is exhausted, you must win the game using only the cards currently on the tableau. There are no redeals in Blockade Solitaire.
