How to Play

1

The Six-Column Tableau

Aunt Mary uses a single 52-card deck. Six tableau columns are dealt, with each column having one more card than the one to its left. All cards in the tableau are dealt face-up.

2

Alternating Color Sequences

Cards are moved between columns in descending order and alternating colors. For example, a Black 7 can only be placed on a Red 8.

3

Building Foundations

The goal is to move all cards to the four foundation piles. Foundations are built by suit starting from Ace and ending with King.

4

The Stock Limitation

Draw cards one by one from the stock. In Aunt Mary, you typically only have one pass through the deck, making it vital to check the board before each draw.

Common Questions

How is Aunt Mary different from Klondike?
The main differences are the six-column layout (instead of seven) and the fact that all tableau cards are dealt face-up, removing the "hidden card" element and turning it into a pure logic puzzle.

Is every game winnable?
Because you only get one pass through the stock, success rate is lower than some other variants. However, having all tableau cards visible from the start allows for much deeper planning.
