How to Play

1

Match the Deck

Begin by discarding all existing pairs in your hand. The deck contains one single card—the Old Maid—that has no match.

2

Draw and Trade

On your turn, draw a card from the player to your left. If it forms a pair with a card you already hold, discard both immediately.

3

Avoid the Maid

The game ends when all pairs are discarded. The player left with the "Old Maid" loses, while everyone else wins!

Classic Strategies

The Poker Face

If you hold the Old Maid, try to look indifferent. If your opponent thinks they are drawing a valuable card, they are more likely to pick the Maid from your hand.

Positioning the Trap

When offering your hand to the next player, vary the position of the Old Maid. Sometimes keep it in the center, sometimes at the edge, to keep them guessing.

Watch the Reaction

Observe the player drawing from you. Their hesitation or relief can often tell you exactly where the most dangerous card in the game is currently hiding.

Common Questions

How many players can join?

Is it purely a game of luck?
While card drawing involves luck, the psychological element of "bluffing" and how you present your cards adds a deep layer of strategy.
