How to Play

1

Know Your Pieces

Each piece moves uniquely: the Rook travels straight, the Bishop diagonally, the Knight in an 'L' shape, and the Queen combines all directions.

2

Control the Center

Occupying the four middle squares (d4, d5, e4, e5) early in the game gives your pieces the most mobility and control over the board.

3

Protect the King

Use "Castling" to tuck your King safely behind a wall of pawns and bring your Rooks into the game. Never leave your King exposed in the center!

4

Achieve Checkmate

The game ends when a King is under attack (in check) and has no legal moves to escape. This final blow is known as Checkmate.

Common Questions

What is "En Passant"?
It's a special pawn capture that occurs when an opponent's pawn moves two squares forward from its starting position and lands directly next to your pawn.

How does a Stalemate happen?
A Stalemate is a draw where the player whose turn it is has no legal moves, but their King is NOT in check. In Chess, a draw can be just as tactical as a win!
